AMMIRAGLIO 1939 TURTLE BROWN
It’s the last splash for one of the most elusive writing instruments ever made. Japanese nib-craft merges with flawless Italian tailoring one final time, as our rare fusion pen stuns in lustrous, turtle-brown celluloid.
This year’s supreme writing instrument is the Ammiraglio 1939: a pen steeped in nostalgia and a showcase for 215 years of technological perfection. It took more than a century for Montegrappa and Sailor Pen to join forces, but the fruits of our collaboration are sure to be remembered for decades.
For its final voyage, the Ammiraglio 1939 returns in turtle-brown celluloid – a richly textured finish that magically amalgamates Italian splendour and wabi-sabi style. 0.925 Sterling Silver detailing includes an ornate cap-band frieze that hints at the precision found throughout this once-in-a-lifetime writing instrument.
Sailor-made nibs enjoy mythical status among the writing cognoscenti. For this special project, the factory founded in 1911 by Kyogoro Sakata took the rare step of selecting 18K Gold for an elite batch of nibs that combine Hiroshima hallmarking with Montegrappa’s insignia and filigree deco.
Once in Bassano, nothing was left to chance. To do justice to this extraordinary gift, bespoke componentry was developed to recreate an archival 1939 silhouette using signature Montegrappa materials and the highest levels of craftsmanship.
A special grip section was engineered to accommodate our partner’s proprietary writing block. At the opposing end, our patented, click-wheel piston-filler manages ink supply with watch-like precision.
But what lingers longest is its timeless beauty and the knowledge that there has never before been anything quite like this.
Only 80 pieces in turtle brown represent the last of this exceptional generation. Saying sayonara is never easy, but for those lucky enough to hold the Ammiraglio 1939, nirvana shall be eternal.
