Today is Saraswati Puja. Today we pray to the Goddess Saraswati – the reigning deity of Academics and the Arts. Today we invoke her blessings and pray to her for guidance and knowledge.

Vidyaa-Ruupe Vishaal-Aakssi Vidyaam Dehi Namostute ||”
(O Devi Saraswati, the most Auspicious Goddess of Knowledge with Lotus-like Eyes,
An Embodiment of Knowledge with Large Eyes, Kindly Bless me with Knowledge. I Salute you.)
To many of us, the ultimate aim in life is to pursue knowledge – even at the cost of giving up all else – for us, this is the special day.
May I pray to the Goddess on behalf of all of you – may Sarawsati Mata bless you, illuminate your minds and free your souls from the shackles of Mammon.
Note: the Sketch of Saraswati is by Sudeb Bhattacharyya a young artist. He has replaced the Devi’s traditional Beena (a stringed instrument) with a Fountain Pen to highlight my all-encompassing obsession with the pen, to urge all to invoke the same spirit as we pray to the Goddess, today and everyday!
